How do I setup my Saint Mary's Email on my Android Phone?

There are two ways to add your Saint Mary's Email to your Android device.  You can setup the account by adding a google account and signing in with your Google credentials.  However, some users prefer to consolidate their email accounts into a single Email / Corporate App.

 

Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings

  1. Sign in to Gmail.
  2. Click the  gear in the top right.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  5. Select Enable IMAP.
  6. Click Save Changes.

To configure the 'Email' app on an Android device for access to Google Apps email, just follow the steps below:

On the 'Incoming server settings' page and the 'Outgoing server settings' page, some fields may be pre-populated. Make sure to change the following:

  1. Open the Email application.
  2. Tap  and the Settings
  3. In the top corner, tap  select Next to get started with setup.
  4. Enter your full Google Apps email address and password, then tap Next.
  5. For 'Username,' enter your full Google Apps email address (username@smumn.edu).
  6. Tap IMAP account.
  7. Update the Incoming Settings:
    1. For 'IMAP server,' enter 'imap.gmail.com'
    2. For 'Port,' enter '993'
    3. For 'Security type,' select 'SSL/TLS''
  8. Tap Next and fill in the Outgoing Settings.
    1. For 'SMTP server' enter 'smtp.gmail.com'
    2. For 'Port,' enter '465'
    3. For 'Security type,' select 'SSL/TLS''
  9. Tap Next and continue through the setup options.

And you're done. You can verify your settings from the Inbox view by tapping , select Account and then scroll to Server settings.

Incoming settings
IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
Port: 993
Security type: SSL (always)

Outgoing settings
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 465
Security type: SSL (always)
