What antivirus programs are approved for use on campus?



Saint Mary's University of Minnesota requires all Microsoft Windows devices to have current anti-virus software installed. Many of the mainstream anti-virus programs are approved for use on campus. 

If your current solution has expired and you wish to switch to either Security Essentials or Windows Defender (both of which are free) follow the directions below:

1.Uninstall any anti virus programs currently installed (click for instructions). This is extremely important!

2. Windows Vista or Windows 7, click to download Security Essentials.

Windows 8 and Windows 10 users:

1. Click on the start button.

2. Type in defender in the search box, and select Windows Defender.

3. Click tools, and then click options.

4. Click Administrator, and select the box for "Use this program" and then press save.
