Unless your instructor has disabled the feature, all students are able to download class recordings onto their computers. This means that Tegrity recordings can be viewed anywhere and at any time, even without an internet connection. Downloading courses to your computer makes studying convenient, especially if you’re studying from a place where internet access is unavailable, such as in a bus trip or camping outdoors. All of your recordings are available 24/7.
*Note: These instructions are on how to download and playback recordings on a PC.
Finding the download icon:
There are two ways to save Tegrity recordings to your computer:
1. From your Tegrity course, click on the course title where the recording you wish to download is located.
To the right of each recording, the download icon appears. Click the download icon that is adjacent to the recording you want to download.
2. You can find the download icon on the Tegrity playback screen, circled below in red.
How to download a recording:
A dialogue box will appear, entitled “download class”, as shown below. Select download. (If this box does not appear, make sure you have enabled pop-ups on your internet browser).
Another dialogue box will appear, asking you to save the file on your computer. Select “save” to continue. You may be prompted to choose the location where you would like to save the file. If so, choose a location, and run the file when the download is complete.
If you are not prompted to save the file in a specific location, a “downloads” box should appear, where you will see the recording. Double click the recording, select “run” and your recording will play. (In this situation, to find the location of your recording on your computer, it has likely been saved to your “My Documents” folder by default).
*Note: When you download a Tegrity recording, Tegrity automatically creates a “My Tegrity Recordings” folder in your “My Documents” folder. Inside the “My Tegrity Recordings” folder, a folder entitled “Sessions” is also created and your recordings are saved there automatically in separate folders titled by class name.
How to playback a recording:
When you download a Tegrity recording, Tegrity automatically creates a “My Tegrity Recordings” folder in your “My Documents” folder. For example, if you are using Windows 7, your “My Documents” folder should look like this, with the “My Tegrity Recordings” folder located inside:
Double clicking to open this folder will bring you to a Tegrity automatically created folder entitled “Sessions”. Opening this folder will bring you to a series of folders titled by course name. These are the classes you have downloaded recordings from.
When you select a course name, the next window will have a series of files. Your recording is titled “Default.htm”. This will prompt your web browser to open (although no internet is needed to view a downloaded recording) and your recording will play with all activated functions, such as bookmarking and controlled playback.
